cycling around my hometown Hamburg become an adventure like bike touring... hard autumn winds last night, plenty trees are gone, parts of the coast beaches floated away, some train lanes down until Monday... Nature has always the last word!

Lonely Planet votes my hometown Hamburg for the fourth-best city to travel in 2018. Thanks :). Yes, we have some awesome architecture, a good night life and plenty options of culture. But cycling is a different story. Hamburg want to become a cycling capital till 2020. But it's not become better really. Bad surface, busy roads, car-style infrastructure. Camp sites somewhere behind the city borders. Finally, there are definitely other facts to become a cycling destination. I hopped by train to the north, to the Müritz national Park. Plenty cranes aspecteted in the next days!

Some miles along the Mosel... direction Koblenz. Awesome wine plants all around. It's nice to use the farmers roads to climb up for a better view :)

I crossed the Hunsrück mountain area between Bingen and the river of Mosel. Not very special. In Enkirch at the Mosel I used this tiny bike ferry to cross from east to west - lovely <3 :) (y)

My left shoe said goodbye after 2 years pedaling. But I have always some duct tape with me :)

After passing the cities of Mainz and Wiesbaden I followed the river of Rhine for some miles to Bingen. Some surprising nature :)

I used the train for some miles up to the middle west of Germany with a short stop over in Heidelberg. Awesome castle with a great view :).

sometimes I use the pedestrian mode for routing - situations like this reminds me to use better the cycling mode for routing

Difficult to find white spots on my map, but I did it :). So picked a train from Ansbach to Neuburg to cycling the next days 250km from Neuburg via Augsburg and Memmingen to Sigmaringen. Somebody on in the road in this area :)?

Why I take a train on a bike trip? Well, because of drying my tent time by time :)

One of the most lovely places at the german Danube: The Danube gorge between monastery Weltenburg and Kelheim. It's a pity to have to take a boat for it :D

I met the Danube cycle path for one more interesting section. between Neuburg and Ingolstadt, south banks. It's a area for floating and offers many natural space for local wild life. (When I crossed it, I was the the only "wild life" - sorry :D.

What is more safe than a KRYPTONITE lock? To lock the bike with a Kryptonite on a GAS line :D.

I pedaled the valley of Altmühl for some miles between Pappenheim and Dollnstein. The most beautiful part of this river route :).

a new part on my bike :)! the inner square of my pedal arm became old and failed during spinning. Now a new crank set. different transmission but more comfortable in low gear. so this service stop was a win-win-deal :)

My last climb was up to the regional nature park Ballons des Vosges. awesome views around from 1300m altitude. You must go here if you like to cycle the Vosges mountains! :)

I crossed the Rothaar mountains north of Marburg and spend some Miles along the river of Lahn. I was really surprised by this peaceful landscape with less traffic :)

In the area around Wuppertal ("bergisches Land") they reanimate old railway routes to bike lanes. I was lucky to put some Miles on it into my route :)

That's cool. because of railway restoration the local bike club announced a cycle route between Düsseldorf and Wuppertal :) #Schienenersatzverkehr

Kids painted their garage door :) I crossed the border from the Netherlands to Germany close to Venlo. Cycling in Germany again feels like a culture shock!
